It is a goal, and priority of Camp Tapawingo to be a welcoming and accessible place for all children regardless of religion, sexual orientation, gender expression or financial situation. In order to remove barriers Tapawingo maintains a special fund to provide financial assistance to families based on need. This fund is limited and varies each year depending on donations and grants. Families can apply for any amount and for more than one camper. Funds could also be used towards day camp, travel to camp or camping supplies. We ask each family to contribute as much as possible to their campers's fees and we trust that applicants will report all sources of income honestly.
All applications for financial assistance received will be kept confidential. Only the Executive Director, Board Chair and Bookkeeper will be aware that an application has been made.
Applicants must reapply for assistance each year. Recieving funds one year does not guarantee that you will receive funds in subsquent years. New applications will recieve priority as it is our desire to use the available funds to ensure as many youth as possible benefit from a summer camp experience.
Financial Assistance is granted based on need, demand, and availability of funds in the Assistance Fund pool the year you make the application. . The deadline to apply for financial assistance is May 1. Applicants will be notified as to the level of financial assistance provided no later than June 1, and will be invoiced for any amounts still owing to the camp. Applications that come in after the May 1 deadline will still be considered, however chance of funds being granted are reduced.
The Camp Board has established some general guidelines and policies around the program. Congregations and individual members of a congregation can make a donation to the camp and designate it for the Sponsorship Fund or to an individual camper(s) that is applying for assistance. The Board welcomes donations to this fund as it enables the camp to provide assistance to as many applicants as possible.
To qualify for financial assistance, the camper’s parent or gaurdian must fill out an Application for Support Form which can be found by clicking below
Financial assistance can also be obtained for a youth applying for the Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) Program. Please email Terry at [email protected] prior to submitting the application.
