After having to cancel Week #1 and make a last minute decision about Week #2 due to the smoke conditions, I'm pleased to say camp is officially up and running again as usual. We had a great first week with the 10-12 year olds, which included a special visit to our awesome neighbours at Camp Thunderbird. Week #3 begins tomorrow and we are all excited about the theme of the week which is Time Travel. Talk soon!
Hello Tapa Lovers,
My name is Dylan Nordstrom and I am proud to say that I will be the director of Camp Tapawingo for the 2015 camp season. As we continue to try and make this summer the best one yet, I would like to welcome you all to apply to be either a volunteer or C.I.T. (counsellor in training). This is an exciting opportunity for absolutely anyone who loves Tapawingo (and let's face it, if you're reading this you obviously do). For information on how to apply, please see the employment section of this website or contact me directly at [email protected]. Please include your age and when you are interested in coming up. I look forward to hearing from you and for those of you wondering Camp #1 starts in 2 weeks, 6 days, 22 hours, 2 minutes, and 33...32...31 seconds!! See you soon! We are into our final few days here at camp Tapawingo. We have had an exciting week thus far and it has been packed with special activities. We already had a senior camp out on the swim beach, Tapa relay to start the week and a very special private show put on by the talented Ally JL. Ally is a former staff member from Tapawingo who is currently pursuing a career in music and she is doing amazing. Make sure to check her out on I-tunes.
"Mmmm I want to linger, Mmmm a little longer. Mmmm a little longer here with you" -everybody at Tapawingo!! We are well into the hustle and excitement of our senior camp. Senior speeches are coming together, senior project is about to begin and the Tapa relay has already been completed our first night here! We are looking forward to our week with these great campers!
Dont forget to check out the sunest timelapse at Vesper Hill here at Camp Tapawingo! We are heading into our final week of camp as we ended off a great week with the 12-14 year olds. The senior camp will have a tough time topping the awesome week we just had. Check out a time lapse of a sunset at Vesper Hill at this link
We have been having a great week here at Camp Tapawingo with an incredible 12-14 year old group. The pictures below have been taken over the past few days during day-to-day activities. First picture was taken on a walk to Vesper. Tapa friends are forever. Second picture is during a morning Labyrinth walk, and since it went so well we may possibly have candle lit night Labyrinth. The last picture is taken at Chapel. We had a high windstorm at the begging of the summer which blew down a few trees around camp. I thought it was cool how the tree broke exactly at the spot of the cross leaving it in perfect condition and unharmed.
After many fun filled days with the 10-12 year old camp we had to say goodbye. Our days were packed with many activities and hot days which had us enjoying the cold Candle Lake. We are into our smallest camp of the year with 40 12-14 year olds and it is looking like a energetic group! The summer is flying by as we are now over half way through our camps. We ended our family camp on Sunday and said goodbye to a great group of families. It was great to see a variety of faces and a variety of ages. We have moved onto a great 10-12 camp and have had a great first day. The great manners and energy continue once again into another week.
Cabin One and Cabin Eight had the joy of cleaning the bathrooms today as part of their Daily Duties. Cabin Nine had served breakfast so they were busy washing the dishes and the rest of the Cabins were busy cleaning up their cabin in hopes of winning the cleanest cabin award.
