Rationale Camp Tapawingo, rooted in United Church values, is located at Candle Lake, Saskatchewan. Tapawingo was founded 75 years ago to provide a natural setting for young people to live in community and to get to know themselves and experience growth in their faith. We want to further our mission by finding a dedicated and motivated person for the year-round permanent position of Camp Operations Manager. The Operations Manager, working with the Camp Board and Chaplain, will help to provide organizational, administrative, and summer program planning keeping the summer camp experience and our mission statement at the forefront.
Purpose The Camp Operations Manager will be the point of contact, manage the administration duties, write for grants and fundraising, organize program planning and registration during the year. During the summer they will have responsibility and oversight for the staff team, leadership training and implementing the summer programming. Working with the Camp Board the Camp Operations Manager will ensure that the mission, vision, and values of Camp Tapawingo are nurtured and supported creating a sense of community.
Roles, Responsibilities and Tasks with collaboration and direction from the Camp Board and Camp Chaplain
Planning - Summer Programming: researching, selecting, designing, and delivering programming content and activities. -training and delegating all aspects of the program to the summer staff. -recruiting, interviewing, hiring and scheduling summer staff in collaboration with board staffing committee -researching, planning and implementing leadership training for staff and volunteers -overseeing Summer Recreation Director and all staff on site while children’s summer camp is in session. Guiding, mentoring, and retraining as needed. Reporting to the board chair weekly or as needed during summer. -regular attendance of SCA and OMI and United Church YAYAC, zoom meetings and in-person conferences and learning opportunities
Operations Oversee all operations of the camp including but NOT limited to: -manage and oversee website and updates -manage online registration forms and payments -order and manage camp merchandise -maintain all SCA accreditation standards, submit forms and paperwork in a timely manner -maintain all UCC accreditation standards, submit forms and paperwork in a timely manner -prepare an annual property improvement and repair plan, coordinate with grounds keeper and repair people
Finances and Fundraising -prepare an annual draft budget with projections -manage expenditures within the budget including camp payroll and supplies -research and write grant applications -Help manage fundraising campaigns, alumni correspondence and church connections
Administration -maintain complete records from each summer registrations, incident reports, programming summaries and staff evaluations. Store all in accordance with camp and SCA standards -Be the point of contact for inquiries and parent clarification -update and maintain website, facebook page, Instagram page
Wage and time commitment: -32 hours per week at $22/ hr -work from home during the year, on site at Camp Tapawingo during the camp season
