I hope all is well for all of you and that you’ve had a great year so far!
It’s that time again when I send out an invitation for applications. Summer 2017 will be here before we know it! Our board is already busy getting ready for this season and on-line registration being offered again this year and is already open! We want to invite you to apply to work at Tapawingo for this summer OR to please pass it on to people who you think would be great assets to our staff. We find this is the best way to find the right people to help camp continue. Most of us have a special place in our hearts for Tapawingo and its that spirit that keeps things going! You can direct people to our website at www.camptapawingo.net for applications or email cover letters and resumes directly [email protected]! I also invite you to consider volunteering for a week or encourage interested people to do so. Often we need volunteers to open up our registration numbers further for certain weeks. **Please help me out by spreading the word!! and pass this on to anyone you think would be interested. We saw an increase in numbers last year, which we attribute to the ease of online registration, and are hoping that it will increase our numbers even more this year. With registration being already open, some of our camps are already starting to fill and we will need volunteers. We will also continue the ‘parent time - week in review’ this year where parents get to spend a little time at camp at pick-up time on the last day and catch the love for Tapawingo that their kids bring home. We are hoping to have even more parents join in for the last morning chapel service and then view a slide show of some of the fun that happened during their child’s time at camp and end with a hot dog and merchandise sale. We know that if the campers can show their parents how great Tapawingo is we will have campers for life and our camp community and supporters will continue to grow! Applications are now being accepted with the deadline being March 25. Interviews will take place in April. All positions are open including program director, recreation director (NLS), medic (must hold valid first aid certification), Kitchen staff, male and female counsellors. We need good applicants for ALL positions! Camp cleanup this year is on May 27th with Camp Sunday being help on May 28th on Vesper Hill and we would love to see you there. Please send a resume with relevant experience and cover letter stating why you would be a good candidate for staff this year. Thanks so much and hope to see you this summer!! Terry Linsley-Kreutzwieser Staffing Coordinator, Camp Committee We've had an amazing summer so far! These past six weeks have flown by and we're looking forward to the last two weeks of camp!
We had such a great first week with some awesome 7-9 campers! Some highlights include a visit with from the firefighters, and a fun Carnival complete with face painting, fortune telling, photo booths, and water balloons! Camp 2 is now underway and so far we are having an awesome time with this group of 10-12 year olds!
We are now three weeks away from the official start of our 2016 camping season! The staff and I are excited to get to camp and to start planning and preparing all sorts of fun things for the summer. Have you registered yet? We hope to see you there!
Emily Camp Tapawingo's kitchen reno's are underway! Come check out the progress tomorrow at Camp Sunday. All welcome to attend.
Come to Camp Tapawingo this weekend! Saturday will be Camp clean-up. There are always plenty of jobs that need to be completed, from maintenance to painting; from cleaning to taking down trees. Come for an hour, or the day! Many hands make for light work. Camp Sunday service begins at 11:00am, Sunday morning. There will be a baptism during Nora Vedress' service. Following the service there will be a potluck lunch, and if you have any curiosity as to how Camp Tapawingo runs, consider staying for the AGM at 1:00pm. I hope to see everyone up at Camp Tapawingo this weekend! - Carmen Hello Tapawingo people! My name is Emily Mooney and I am excited to be your Director this summer! Tapawingo is currently looking for volunteers, CITs (Counsellors in training), and RITs (Rec Directors in training). If you are 16 or older and interested in helping out this summer, check out the dates and ages for this year's camps under the Camp Dates and Registration heading. Please email [email protected] with your name, age, and availability, or with any questions. I can say from experience that volunteering at camp is a fantastic opportunity, and I hope to see some of you there for an awesome week!
I will be periodically updating this blog throughout the next few months with more information on Tapawingo happenings, but in the meantime make sure to follow the camp Twitter (@camp_tapawingo) and Instagram (@camp_tapawingo_candlelake) for more updates! Please join us on May 29th, 2016 for Camp Sunday. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with old and new camp friends. The Vesper Hill service begins at 11:00, and then we will enjoy a food and fellowship in the mess hall. A great chance to revisit camp memories. New Camp Merchandise will be available for sale. Here is an old staff photo to let us know that applications are now being accepted for the summer of 2016! We will be interviewing for all positions in March. Check out the website: www.camptapawingo.net for additional information. Applications can be emailed to [email protected] |
